Wittunga

A few months back I visited an amazing public garden in the Adelaide hills - Wittunga Botanic Gardens. This park is filled with South African plants that are suited to the South australian climate, so they flower most of the year. Thankfully the rain had abated and the cloud clover was good for overall-light, so... Continue Reading →

Photo-MeetUp, 31st May, Adelaide CBD

In case you haven't heard, I've organised a 'MeetUp' for Adelaide Photographers. I got this started about a fortnight ago and have been pleasantly surprised by the amazing response saying "YES!". This is more than your average group of people. At this stage we have about 30 people turning up, ranging from Amateurs to full-professionals,... Continue Reading →

Find and Photograph an Australian Echidnea

Photographing Australian wildlife is fraught with many interesting problems. Most of our wildlife lives in the bush, an environment that is either burnt to the ground or overgrown to the point of strangulation. Australia also has land covered in tree-stumps from over-zealous farmers who try to live on lands where water accumulates only where plants... Continue Reading →

Farm Survival

Two photographs from today's walkabout. I found an abandoned homestead that included the old home, the outhouse, garage, shearing shed, storage shed and old concrete water tank! Here are two shots from the day. Many more are to follow.

Panorama of Kangaroo Island

My first panorama image shot yesterday at the Kingscote Jetty is almost a perpetual panorama. Best seen full size. Here are a few more, also shot on Kangaroo Island, to keep you tantalised and amazed at what can be achieved WITHOUT a tripod. Expect more like this: I am having heaps of fun shooting panoramic... Banners Built with GIMP

I had a bit of fun last night with GIMP. I had an idea to build an image that incorporated my Redbubble photography. Whilst I like the results, I'm still not sure how or if I will incorporate into them into the layout of my site. I've already had someone say to me "Hey, that'd... Continue Reading →

Is it Orton or HDR?

More often I don't read the instructions. They are usually filled with waffle and glossy pictures. Sometimes I find the step-by-step instructions are either inadequate or incomplete. I prefer to jump in feet first and swim my way up, then I re-write the instructions. With that in mind, I've got a small project to do... Continue Reading →

Glass Menagerie

Whilst still on my afternoon-trek into the Adelaide CBD, I found the time of day lent me grand opportunity to capture reflections in the newer glass-menagerie's. I only had a sixty minute window (excuse the pun) to enjoy what I do best, so I aimed my glass at the Police headquarters in Wakefield Street. Here... Continue Reading →
