The Insta360 X3 – A Business Idea Put On Hold

The Ideal 360 Camera for Quality Without Spending Too Much

Another interest that hasn’t got off the ground is 360-degree photography and video.

I bought an Insta360 X3 around the time the X4 was coming out, when the older model was available at a good price. I could see the potential and had enough understanding of the technology to appreciate what it might allow me to do.

Unfortunately, my timing couldn’t have been much worse. I bought the camera about a month before my marriage ended. The separation had a considerable effect on me, and my enthusiasm for exploring the camera disappeared along with a great many other plans.

The Insta360 now sits right in front of me, almost a paper-weight. Somewhere along the line, it became a reminder of a difficult period, and that makes it harder to pick up than it probably should be. But the interest itself hasn’t disappeared.

I can still see plenty of possibilities for the camera: I could show people what happens behind the scenes at the radio station, take it to local events such as the RUOK Black Dog Ride on Kangaroo Island, or explore other parts of the island and share the footage on YouTube. The camera could also complement my photography, writing and radio presenting, bringing several of my interests together.

The problem isn’t a lack of ideas. It’s finding the energy and enthusiasm to pursue them.

For now, the Insta360 remains on the sidelines, much like the RC car. I still want to learn how to use it properly and discover what I can create with it.

Perhaps the first step is simply picking it up, turning it on and having a play. I don’t need a business plan or a YouTube masterpiece on day one. I just need to start enjoying the process again.
