Why I Still Blog in 2024

For me, blogging isn’t just about spinning tales or sharing cold, hard facts.

Move Forward, Look Ahead, Stay Focused

It’s a canvas where I paint the vivid picture of my entrepreneurial and family life – the highs, the practical nitty-gritty, and the pearls of wisdom mined from the trenches of real-world battles. I weave stories that go beyond the office and the lounge room, delving into the unique challenges of parenting while steering a small business.

My blog isn’t just a hobby; it’s a strategic venture.

Like any savvy entrepreneur, I enjoy learning and applying the ropes of writing my blog, finding traffic, and exploring inventive ways to hopefully make a few dollars from my words. Sure, I’ve toyed with the idea of slapping endorsements and collaborations on my blog – after all, who wouldn’t want a piece of my wisdom? But being a solo act, I’m picky about what I associate with my brand. It’s not about the product being bad; it’s about my personal stamp of approval, earned through genuine use and a fair critique.

When your life-story is what gives you the entrepreneurial spirit, your blog becomes the megaphone amplifying that narrative. Being a father with two sons on the spectrum here on Kangaroo Island, life’s quite a journey.

  • I’ve got a TAMIYA RC car, almost ready to race. It serves as a sort of therapy in this remote place.
  • Then there’s my Super73 ebike. Battery flat-lined, but I’m not giving up. It’s more than just reviving the bike; it’s about keeping the spirit alive. Life’s too short to let a dead battery be a roadblock.
  • And my radio presenter gig? I’ve been playing tunes for nearly a decade, and I’m not ready to retire the mic just yet. It’s more than a volunteer job; it’s a connection, a lifeline to the community on this island. Another ten years? Why not? The airwaves keep me grounded.

Yes, life has changed, so my blog has changed and evolved.
It’s not solely about me and my dreams anymore. With my amazing wife, our sons, and our roots now firmly entrenched in the Kangaroo Island earth, I now balance dreams, work and family responsibilities. I didn’t abandon my pre-marriage dreams; I started writing about them. That’s a journey worth writing and reading.

My story may show my imperfections, faults, and eclectic-ness, yet those very things give me plenty to write about that makes me feel better about my life and my self. I hope it does the same for you.
