1 Good Reason Why I Don’t Smoke

Smoking is one of the most self-destructive habits we’ve ever normalised.

Every year, tobacco kills more than 8 million people worldwide. That’s more lives than many wars, disasters and other drugs combined.

I’ve never understood the appeal.

When did it become logical to deliberately inhale toxic chemicals into the very organs designed to keep us alive?

If our bodies were meant to breathe smoke, the Earth’s atmosphere would’ve been built that way. Instead, we spend billions trying to clean the air around us, while millions willingly pay to fill their own lungs with it. The irony has always amazed me.
