G’day, I’m Stephen Mitchell.

I am a cool guy who thrives on blending creativity, technology, and business ventures. I’m based on Kangaroo Island, and I love exploring where visual story-telling meets digital innovation.

What I’m Up To Right Now

First thing to mention: I am single again.
After a 27 year marriage to an amazing woman who let me help her have two beautiful children who still call me Daddy, we parted ways.
Despite that, I remain a great guy:

• I walk the dog or play Nintendo with the boys when Sarah wants time off. I am still Dad after all, I am not running away from my responsibilities.
• I manage her Facebook Business pages because I want her honey-business to succeed after the devastating 2019-2020 fires here on Kangaroo Island.

Yet now I can now do whatever I want, without having to ask if I can leave the house or spend my hard-earned money.

Importantly, independence and self-reliance are pretty much everything to me. I don’t follow the crowd – I’d rather carve my own path.

Right now, I’m back to what I love most: photography. I’m always chasing those fleeting moments through the lens, and treating each captured image like it’s a story waiting to be told. SInce I’ve got a fantastic e-bike, I spend my weekends riding around Kingscote and Brownlow, finding new things to capture.

I’ve returned to blogging my thoughts on a variety of subjects – business opportunities, creativity, local culture and social events, self-teaching and online-learning, lifestyle issues, mental health, my computer and camera gadgetry, future and past travel, my poetry, and my years of wisdom. Whew, it’s a lot, yet I still enjoy writing about these subjects.

I am going back to being a radio presenter on 5KIxFM community radio on Kangaroo Island. Some of you may remember my “Massive Music Mix for Your Weekly Fix”. That’s being replaced with an “All Australian” playlist that will include many new artists on AMRAP plus classics from the 1960’s onwards. Starting in mid August.

I am getting more involved with my local community, particularly for people with special needs and assistance. More on this as permitted

I still design unique websites, crafting websites that actually work and look good using good old HTML and CSS. Many now incorporate CSS-Grids and modern minimal techniques.

I tried rock-carving. I wanted to try rope-art with beach refuse. But I lost the shed space to storage, and it had no power supply. I still have all the rocks and rope, all collected from beaches around Kangaroo Island, so that hobby may return.

I plan to build a new house in about 18 months time – specifically designed for me and maybe one other special person, plus a bed area for my son’s if they want to visit.

Whilst I prefer quiet time, reading Clive Cussler books, all on Kangaroo Island, my island home – I plan to travel more around Australia. Life is again my journey.
