Do What You Love & You Will Be Happy (IMHO)

Some days we spend too much time waiting for things to happen, but in truth, life does NOT work like that. You, me, we all need to realise that life isn’t waiting for each of us to work it out.

We need to find the path we want to be on – and take it. Just take it. Don’t let life pass you by. Step on the treadmill, think for yourself, take the journey, have a go, fail, fail many times, and work toward the success you desire, want and maybe even need.

Take me for example:

After spending twenty years working for ‘the man’, then a few years of working out what to do next, then I realised the skills I had learned no longer had a journey in themselves.

So I took a punt on a crazy idea – and now I run a window washing business.

It is now my favourite job of all time. I work for myself. I run the business. I organise and pay taxes accordingly. I subcontract to multiple cleaning services. I have a tonne of my own clients that I found in my first month in business. I will never be a millionaire, but I am happy. Happy to be doing something that appeals both to my meticulous nature, but helps support my family and lifestyle.

I am a product of a hippies who escaped the rat race in the 1970’s, who taught me that home-grown food is better, that small communities are where life is fully lived (but I did live in the city for 20 years!), and that doing what you enjoy will make you happy.

My wife also runs her own business – producing the finest Honey on Kangaroo Island.

My choice to start a small business was a combination of want and need to provide for my family, a load of enthusiasm to do something completely different yet without further study, and basically a combination of all the people and computer skills I have acquired over the last thirty years.

Yet what helped me most to get to where I am today is reading. Reading LOTS of good books, but mostly books that make me think better. So you can understand why I include affiliate links in my articles to Amazon books.

The quotes below are some of my favourite because they emphasize the importance of perseverance, consistency, and maintaining a positive mindset while working towards your goals.

“Patience is not about waiting, it’s the ability to maintain a positive outlook while working consistently for what you believe in.”

Unknown

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.”
– Winston Churchill

“Persistence is the key to success. You have to keep knocking on the door until it opens.”
– John Di Lemme

“Don’t watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going.”
– Sam Levenson

“The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary.” – Vidal Sassoon

“Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after the other.”

Walter Elliot

“The road to success is dotted with many tempting parking spaces.” – Will Rogers

“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack in will.”
– Vince Lombardi

“Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.”
– Albert Schweitzer
