The SAAS MedSTAR helicopter flew to Kangaroo Island on Saturday 19th August 2017 for a pickup.
As my son and I stood at the Kingscote memorial at the top of Reeves Point,we heard it before we could see it traveling across the ocean. It flew overhead, slightly scaring my son but he soon realised how lucky he was about to be!
We watched the medical evacuation helicopter travel over the trees, then landed at the Kingscote helipad. As my son and I approached by foot (staying well back from the fence-line), we watched as the propellers came to a halt and the crew disembarked.
I was informed they were there for a pickup. I took the opportunity to catch a few amazing close-up shots, utlising my Canon 7D and new Tamron 18-400 f3.5 zoom. My 5yo son has crossed another thing off his bucket list!
