Canon have a new and massive lens in their artillery that surpasses “The Beast” :
The new Canon 800mm f5.6 L-Series Stabilised Telephoto is the first EF mount telephoto in this focal length from Canon itself and it incorporates a load of current lens technologies.
“The RF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM features a dust and drip resistant construction, allowing you to photograph in most weather situations. The vibration and shock resistant build also allows for peace of mind when traveling and moving equipment from location to location.”
Estimated Price: $16,999 (in 2009)
With that price, you’d expect something the size of small-car: It’s almost half-a-metre in length and weighs in at 4.5 kilos!
Whilst I cannot afford one anytime soon, a man can dream!
