Laughter – The Web Designers Choice of Drug

Ah, the glorious days of the early 2000s internet, where brave souls ventured into the enigmatic world of website creation.

Picture this:
The era of HTM-Hell, where aspiring webmasters flocked to freebie-wizard sites like Angelfire, Geocities, and Homestead. They were tossed into the deep end of the digital pool, expected to grasp the arcane arts of HTML from day one.
Spoiler alert: Most did not survive.

For those daring enough to dive in, the journey began with at least three valiant attempts to cobble together a semblance of a website.

It was a struggle to make images align with a:link borders that flowed down the page, all because float:left; turned out to be a riddle wrapped in a mystery for the average Joe.

Then there were the purists who opted for plain text in good old paragraph format.
After all, it was the easiest thing to write, and it flowed down the page like a gentle stream. They discovered external links while navigating the web’s labyrinthine corridors.

But here’s the kicker: Most of those links were deader than disco before you could even realize these websites existed.

Why?
Because the ambitious souls who cut their teeth on Angelfire and company had since leveled up. They had their domains, were clocking 10 million hits a week, and had moved on to ‘specialize’ their content. They’d evolved into thought leaders instead of content plagiarizers.

Direct quoting?
That was so last millennium.

In a nutshell, what we have here is a hilarious take on how the average newbie perceived the Internet Learning Curve. It was a wild ride, from being a navigation-newbie to becoming an HTML-wholesaler.

The internet was a vast, untamed frontier, and these early pioneers bravely embarked on a quest to make their digital mark.

Whether it was a glorious triumph or an epic fail, one thing was for sure—it was a journey filled with laughter, frustration, and the occasional triumph of creating a website that was, well, uniquely their own. Ah, those were the days!
