Photography is certainly an expensive hobby to keep. I believe the real trick is learning how to use the camera and accessories we currently have before moving onto bigger and better. Even then, consider all your needs in life before investing in big telephoto lens. Better lenses, yes, always buy better. But big is not always better!
That said, I’ve mentioned a few BIG camera lenses over the last few years, including the biggest Nikon and the biggest Canon lens. Somehow I manage to find more that make my eyes water and my jaw drop.
This is the Canon EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM Autofocus Lens. [#1]
It has only one fault: Currently priced at $13,000. At that price, I could buy a new car! Yes I have mentioned this lens before, when it was priced at $17,000. So you can save yourself $4,000 today.
Not big enough for you? So check this out:
This is the Canon 1200mm f/5.6L EF USM Super Telephoto Lens that sells for a mere $99,000!
Hubba hubba! For those of you with a bottomless wallet, you are the only people who would buy this amazing lens. The rest of us will settle for a reasonably sized, non-back-breaking, affordable lens … and will enjoy carrying them to places that the lens above could and would be mistaken for weapons of mass destruction!
[#1] I mentioned this lens upon my Tumblr blog.
